Message from the Principal
It is my greatest pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the start of a new school year. Whether you are stepping onto our campus for the first time or returning as a familiar face, you are the heart of this community, and I am genuinely excited to see the energy you bring.
Before we look ahead, I would like to take a moment to reflect on a truly remarkable achievement. On 12 July, we celebrated our school’s 50th anniversary with a spectacular musical that was not just a performance but a testament to who we are. With more than 250 dedicated performers and helpers, this production was a monumental success, showcasing the very best of our school spirit through the pursuit of excellence in every rehearsal, the seamless teamwork that united backstage and on stage, and a profound sense of togetherness and bonding that brought students, teachers, parents and alumni together as one family. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to every single participant for making our 50th anniversary truly unforgettable. Our Wong Tai Shan spirit never fades.
Building on this vibrant legacy as we embark on this new journey, let us channel the same Wong Tai Shan spirit into keeping our focus on our school’s major concerns for the coming 3 years ahead. Just as our musical required dedication and unity, we are now committed to nurturing every student to be a self-driven lifelong learner who strives for excellence by setting clear targets, acquiring the right skills, and building deep knowledge—take ownership of your studies and create opportunities rather than waiting for them. At the same time, we aim to develop principled youngsters with resilience, compassion, and a serving heart, because we believe true success is measured not only by grades but also by character, kindness, and the courage to stand firm in your values while serving others.
To thrive as lifelong learners in this modern, exciting age of technology, our school embraces artificial intelligence (AI) as a smart partner to enhance learning and teaching effectiveness. Used wisely, AI can help you research, organize ideas, and deepen your understanding. However, exercising ownership over your academic journey requires integrity; therefore, we must be mindful that direct copying and entire reliance on AI will not cultivate your intellect—it will replace your own thinking. AI should assist you, not do your work for you, because the ultimate goal is to train your mind, not bypass it.
Training your mind does not happen overnight; it begins with the daily choices we make. This is why I want to share a simple but powerful truth: little changes in habit can lead to a great impact on life. Whether it is reading for fifteen minutes a day, organizing your schedule, or offering a smile to a classmate, these small acts compound over time into extraordinary results that shape your character and future.
Ultimately, remember this above all: a new school year means a new start, and a brand new you. By embracing these small habits and the goals ahead, you can safely leave behind past doubts and limitations, aspire to greater heights, build new friendships, and discover strengths you never knew you had, because every day is an opportunity to rewrite your story. I look forward to walking alongside you this year. Let us make it a season of growth, purpose, and excellence—together!
