The DSE journey has never been easy for this batch of Form 6 amid the pandemic, with much less time for face-to-face classes since the 2nd term of their Form 4, the switching of the 2nd mock examination to online mode, and the tremendous public exam pressure coupled with uncertainties. We can imagine their worries and the stress they are facing.
Under such unfavourable circumstances, yet, teachers in WTS have made an all-out effort to offer assistance in whatever ways we can, from academic guidance to emotional support. During this special break, there are still online tutorials and consultation sessions initiated by individual subject teachers as well as small group or even one-on-one remedial classes online for the weaker students, not to mention the words of encouragement and communication with students through multiple channels.
Now, our students are heading to the ‘battlefield’, carrying with them not only knowledge and examination skills, but our love, guidance, patience and support throughout the years. To support them in preparing for the HKDSE under the challenging circumstances, students and teachers have recorded cheering and encouraging clips to express our blessings for these brave souls.
Warmest wishes from teachers for our DSE Fighters are also compiled in hearty farewell cards.
The School is especially grateful to our Form 6 teachers for sacrificing their rest time helping students in subject matters, members of Academic Affairs Section and Counselling Section for the efficient collaboration and all teachers who contribute to the video clips and cheering cards. Our thanks also go to the PTA for donating Vitamin C effervescent tablets as well as sore throat and cough herbal lozenges. We surely have done our best, and so will our Form 6.
With what we are doing that is life-changing, may all our soon-to-be graduates conquer all odds and shine in the HKDSE!
This year, to strengthen our students’ confidence in showcasing their talents, and to widen their exposure in the creative use of English, we have enrolled 92 students in the 73rd Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival English events. We are ecstatic with the quadruple increase in participation as compared with previous years.
Reaping our strenuously sown efforts and guidance, we are pleased to present our 14 awardees of First, Second, and Third places, and 64 recipients of Merit in solo verse, prose reading, and dramatic duologue events. The record-breaking number of prizes obtained surely brings glory and honor to each of us!
Congratulations to all our participants! May we all continue to strive to excel above and beyond!
The Hong Kong Youth Performance Arts and Development Association has always been committed to promoting Hong Kong youth performing arts, international exchange opportunities and more internationally recognized values through high-level music and art competitions and activities.
In early January 2022, 1D Law Chiu Lam participated in the 9th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival organized by the association and obtained Silver Award in Piano Solo (Grade 4).
3A Luo Shuk Yik participated in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Positive Energy Music Contest (Hong Kong Preliminary Round) and obtained First Runner-up in Secondary Singing Solo Group in January 2022.
Organized by Hong Kong Education Development Association, Educational Development Association of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area, Global Innovation Alliance and CPU-I, the competition well encourages students to effectively use their skills in music to express their feelings and improve their quality of singing and performance.
Four of our students in 4A (Ng Cheuk Hau, Leung Sze Che, Kuang Ming Tak and Yau Chak Ho), coordinated by our BAFS and Economics Departments, participated in the 11th “Junior Financial Secretary” project co-organized by the Education Bureau and The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong.
Apart from learning some essential financial knowledge and good investment attitudes as well as enhancing their sense of public finance in the training programme, they also had a chance to meet Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, the Financial Secretary, at the Government Secretariat on 25 January 2022, proposing a host of suggestions on the Budget from the youth’s perspective.
Our school library has selected a collection of great books for students and parents. Themes revolve around active communication, emotional management, optimism, and more. While we emphasize teens’ healthy personal growth, gratitude and positive parenting can shorten the distance between parents and their children. We should all take good care of ourselves and boost our sense of wellbeing. Inspiring reads are definitely helpful.
The Written Test of Hong Kong Biology Literacy Award (2021/2022) organized by Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education was held online on 15 January 2022.
Law Ka Ho, Lau Siu Sing, and Cheng Ka Shing from 6D have obtained Second Class Honours, Third Class Honours and Merit respectively in the test. Congratulations!
Leung Ming Fai, our alumnus majoring in BSc (Hons) Applied Biology With Biotechnology at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, obtained First Class Honours and graduated in the 2020-21 academic year.
