2B Lau Sai Wa, 2C Lau Wai Tak and 2D Cheung Tsz Him (classes of 2020-2021) participated in Master Code 2021 and won the prize of second runner-up in Minecraft – Secondary School Division.
The competition was jointly organized by Hong Kong Education City (EdCity) and Microsoft to enhance students’ understanding of the impact of AI in healthcare and wellbeing, with the theme ‘Reimagine Health and Wellbeing with AI’. Students had to apply their programming skills creatively and design a practical strategy or solution to improve human health and wellbeing with AI. The prize giving ceremony was held recently in June.

The competition is hosted by Beijing Radio and Television Station. Since its establishment in 2017, it has promoted artistic standards across the country through building a platform for young people to practice art and showcase their all-round versatility. Fung Ho Hei and On Ka Yau, having won the first prize, will have the opportunity to be recommended to join the national finals and compete with the national winners on the Beijing stage.

The Hong Kong Athletics Series 2022 is organized by Hong Kong Association of Athletics Affiliates (HKAAA). It is one of the biggest athletics events in Hong Kong. Many top Hong Kong athletes join this competition, which is a good platform that validates their performance.

15 of our elite Chemistry students attended an electroplating workshop organized by our Chemistry Department and the Chow Sang Sang Precious Metal Laboratory on 23 June. They applied and integrated their Chemistry knowledge in making their own gold-plated crafts.

A form-based hybrid English Assembly was held on 2 June 2022 to further strengthen students’ language awareness, enrich their thematic vocabulary bank, and promote positive values. Inter-class gamified competitions were hosted by English teachers and run with the assistance of class teachers to encourage students to answer and ask questions in English in an authentic fun context, and mime for their classmates. It was also an occasion for them to showcase their creativity and class spirit after the extended period of online lessons and special vacation.
The winning classes include 1A, 1D, 2C, 2D, 3B, 3D, 4A, 4B, 5B, and 5D. They were each awarded for their enthusiastic participation.
Speed Dating Harry Potter, a cross-unit activity aiming to promote positive values and reading was jointly organized by our school library, social workers and NET recently on 1st and 2nd June 2022. Students were engaged in a range of Harry Potter-themed activities, including a book exhibition of the Harry Potter series in both Chinese and English, an English vocabulary-building booth game, and a 24-character strengths photo-taking and awareness counter run by our social workers. Students had some great fun with our Harry Potters and have definitely been enlightened to explore more about the contemporary English classic!
The Planning Department offered us a two-day outreach programme with a Mobile Exhibition Centre (MEC) set up at our campus on 9th and 10th June.
Thanks to our Geography Department and teachers from various subjects, students were arranged to visit the MEC and learnt about town planning processes, recent urban design / placemaking strategies through simulation models and interactive games, as well as their roles in enhancing the liveability and sustainability of their communities and the city.
Besides, an online seminar entitled “Urban Renewal in Hong Kong” was organized for our F.4 and F.5 Geography students. Mr. Joe Tam, a town planner from the Planning Department, gave insights on not only the current urban renewal projects like Blue House Cluster and Central Market, but also the career mapping to be a town planner in Hong Kong.

Over the years, the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association has organized the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the annual Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival to lay a foundation in music and speech for Hong Kong students and youngsters with potential in these fields. The Festivals also raise their performing standard. Some of the past participants are now prominent figures in the local and the international arts scenes.
The Hong Kong Youth Performance Arts and Development Association has always been committed to promoting Hong Kong youth performing arts, international exchange opportunities and more internationally recognized values through high-level music and art competitions and activities.
In late May, 1D Yip King Him participated in Japan PIARA Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (HK region) 2022 organized by the association and obtained 3rd runner-up in ABRSM Piano Graded Group (Grade 6).
The IYMC (International Youth Music Competition) has been focusing on international art communication and artistic level qualification. It aims to offer an international stage for all musicians to communicate and develop further through holding concerts, masterclasses, forums, lectures, and competitions at regular intervals.
In early June, 3A Xie Xinglin participated in IYMC Spring Music Festival (2022) and obtained 2nd runner-up in Woodwind Flute Graded Group (Grade 8).
