Bronze Award at 7th Greater Bay Area STEAM Excellence Award 2025 (HKSAR)
Three of our Form 4 Biology students participated in the 7th Greater Bay Area STEAM Excellence Award 2025 (HKSAR) with their project titled Natural Herbs – Biologically Friendly Pest Repellent. They conducted an experiment to assess the ability of various herbs to repel ants. Using a camera, they monitored five Camponotus aethiops ants over 24 hours, observing their interactions with the herbs and their jelly consumption to evaluate the deterrent effectiveness. The results indicated that peppermint is an excellent repellent for ants and pests with its high menthol content. Their outstanding work earned them a bronze award in the Life and Health stream of the competition. Congratulations!
