The Investor and Financial Education Council (IFEC) recently launched the IFEC FinEd Hub, Hong Kong’s first digital experiential learning centre to provide experiential learning experiences on investor and financial education for people in Hong Kong.
Our F.4 Economics students visited the centre recently. The hands-on activities and interactive simulations fostered a deeper understanding of financial literacy, offering practical skills and knowledge that empower our students to make informed financial decisions in the future.
Meanwhile, our F.5 students studying Economics and BAFS went on a guided tour visiting the HKMA Information Centre. The tour allowed them to gain insight into the economic and social development of Hong Kong over the years. It was a valuable opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the subject content outside the classroom.

Their project, “Savior”, aims to boost the population of native insects and plants having declined due to urban development and climate change. “Savior” is a self-operated insect hotel using the Arduino program. The Arduino board processes data collected by 6 light sensors, 2 water sensors and a solar panel installed on the roof top to initiate responses correspondingly, such as revolving the device to avoid sunlight and lowering the curtain to avoid raindrops, in order to provide the best living condition for the insects and thus help the pollination of native plants. If cameras are installed, photos of different insects and plants around can be captured and shared on online platforms such as iNaturalist while the collected data can be processed to achieve different investigation and analysis purposes by universities, institutions and environmental organisations. Their product can accomplish multiple objectives. Besides increasing the general public’s awareness, the mechanism saves a lot of manpower in terms of data collection and monitoring. It is hoped that “Savior” can contribute to saving and protecting the life of both pollinators and native plants.

On 28 June 2024, our school hosted a captivating drama performance by DramaWonderland for our Form 1-3 students. The play, “23:10”, conveyed the importance of listening and managing our emotions. The engaging characters and thought-provoking scenarios encouraged our students to reflect on their own experiences and make good use of emotional management strategies.
The dynamic interactions between the performers and audience created an immersive learning environment, allowing our students to develop a deeper understanding of emotion management. This activity not only enlightened our students but also reinforced the value of incorporating drama-based learning to empower them with emotional intelligence and communication skills.
