Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition
Our students, Chan Chi Wa from 3B, Lui Tsz Leung, Wong Kwai Ying, and Tse Yik Lam from 3D, participated in the Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition and won the champion title.
Organized by HKCSS, the Social Innovation. Community 4.0 Competition aims at encouraging young people to pay attention to the community, solve problems for the neighbors in the district with the methods of design thinking and social innovation, and experience and practice social entrepreneurship. The fourth competition focuses on Sham Shui Po, aiming at the mobility and safety of the disabled, improvement of the elderly’s self-image, and opening up play spaces for children and teenagers.
Our team worked for more than 7 months on their project, conducting field trips, communicating with people in the neighborhood and finally coming up with their design thinking approach and application of technology to develop a prototype for community needs. Their award-winning project “Sunshine for the Elderly” is a sustainable planting system designed to allow seniors and students to participate in planting activities on campus. The app monitors the growth of plants in real time and regularly sells them using trolleys. Potted plants enable the elderly to enhance their self-image and promote intergenerational harmony. Being the champion, our team will participate in overseas social innovation exploration tours, personally inspect the diverse social innovation projects, and learn more about the latest developments and trends in the social innovation field.
