Achievements

The Inter-school Dodgedisc Competition was held on 7 July 2023. Having won all the matches in both the group stage and knock-out stage, our team reaped the champion title. Members are as follows:

Three of our talented STEM students, 5A Chan Ying Ho, 5A Lau Ka Hei, and 5C Ho Cheuk Yin, participated in the 8th Elite Cup STEAM Education Challenge organized by the Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association.

In the competition, they had the opportunity to apply their STEM skills and compete with counterparts from 36 secondary schools. They were to make a remote-control aircraft and use it to complete the assigned tasks.

The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (香港資優教育學苑) is a non-profit organization subvented by the Education Bureau with a mission to secure appropriate learning and development opportunities for gifted students aged 10 to 18 years.

HKAGE provides off-school gifted education programmes covering a variety of domains such as STEM, Languages, Business, Finance, Economics, Leadership, Humanities and Whole Person Development.

The Academy admits student members of appropriate ages mainly through their “School Nomination” scheme every school year, involving their Online Learning Programmes for Screening (Stage 1) and the submission of Nomination Profiles (Stage 2).

This year, membership has been offered to nine of our students:

A.S. Watson Group established the Hong Kong Student Sports Awards in 2005. It is an award recognizing numerous outstanding student athletes from all primary, secondary and special schools across Hong Kong for their excellent performance in sports. 4B Wong Chun Nam, one of our swimmers, is awarded this year for his diligence and impressive performance. The way he always strives for his best in training and competitions is more than commendable. Congratulations to Chun Nam!

Our students participated in the 75th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (2023) and won various prizes. Details are as follows:

Over the years, the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association has organized the annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the annual Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival to lay a foundation in music and speech for Hong Kong students and youngsters with potential in these fields. The Festivals also raise their performing standard. Some of the past participants are now prominent figures in the local and the international arts scenes.

The TCAA Athletics Competition – Series Two organized by the Citizen Athletic Association was held at Wan Chai Sports Ground on 6th and 7th May 2023. Our students performed outstandingly and reaped a number of individual awards:

The Inter-school Badminton Competition organized by HKSSF was held at Chai Wan Sports Centre on 22 April 2023. Our students performed outstandingly and obtained Boys B Grade 2^nd Runner-up.

5B Mack Shang Bin participated in the VI International Liszt Ferenc Competition (Hungary-Budapest) – Hong Kong & Macau Preliminary Round 2023 organized by Universal Artists’ Association and obtained 1^st runner-up in Grade Eight Piano Exam Class.

The International Liszt Ferenc Competition is initiated by the World Organization for Promoting Music and Arts Education to attract music-loving contestants to take part and further acquire professional music knowledge, thereby fostering their interest and opening up their international horizons in the field.

All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Athletics (Team) Tournament, an arena for the winning school of each district, organized by the HKSSF was held at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground on 5^th and 6^th May 2023. Our students achieved encouraging results in the competition. 6B Chen Man Ka got 2^nd Runner-up in Girls Discus, while 2B Mak Tsz Ching ranked 5^th and 6^th in Boys 110m Hurdles and Long Jump respectively.

This year, more than 300 of our students participated in the 74^th Hong Kong Speech Festival (English Section), breaking the school’s record in terms of the number of both participants and awards.

We are more than pleased with our impressive results. A number of our participants obtained Certificates of Honours and the majority received Certificates of Merit. Our students’ dedication, effort and talent paid off and they have definitely gained a rewarding experience through their active involvement in the competition.

During their strenuous preparation, they appreciated the literary works and polished their delivery skills, fostering their confidence along the way. With the adjudicators’ professional feedback, the Speech Festival was indeed a valuable learning opportunity. We look forward to seeing our students build on their strengths, and continue to strive for excellence and their well-deserved success.
