Bringing Classics to Life: Our Visit to “Taming the Dragon”

Our students recently enjoyed a trip to the Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre for Taming the Dragon, part of AFTEC’s “From Page to Stage® 2026” programme. Inspired by the Chinese classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the English performance helped students gain a deeper appreciation of historical themes and values. This unique fusion of Eastern heritage and Western drama proved to be a true cultural gem, portraying Chinese traditions in a way that felt both fresh and accessible.

The production blended live interaction with multi-angle projection, reimagining Chinese literature through innovative stage technology and creative arts. A major highlight was when several students were invited onto the stage to participate in scenes. This vivid experience gave them a memorable glimpse of artistry under the spotlight, offering them an eye-opening, cross-disciplinary immersion to see how drama comes alive.
